In some countries, shopping online is replacing shopping at store. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
It is true that with the appearance of shopping online, shopping at store appears to be less popular in some nations. Although some drawbacks might result from this, I still believe that it is a negative development.
On the one hand, shopping on the Internet could probably be a risker choice for customers. Firstly, it is obvious that the quality of products purchased online cannot be assured. For example, buyers might consume a large amount of money and afterward receive a product that has nothing like the advertised images on social network. Secondly, buyers’ private information could be stolen owning to fraudulent sellers. In order to make online payment, customers often reveal the details of their credit card or mobile phone number. Consequently, these types of information could be used for illegal purposes such as withdrawing money from customers’ bank account.
On the other hand, I still argue that online shopping offers a more convenient method of purchasing than traditional one. At the first place, geographical distance would no longer be a challenge for buyers since almost all online shops provide free delivery service. Instead of arriving directly to a shop, customers now can sit in their house and wait for the shipper. In addition, products’ price from online shop is likely to be much economical, owning to a fact that sellers are not liable for location expense. Due to the costs saved, sellers could provide various commodities with much cheaper price compared to shopping at store.
In conclusion, shopping on the Internet is transforming the way people make a purchase, and I also believe that this tendency could be considered positive rather than negative.
